Today’s action in the United Nations Security Council critically restores international restrictions and sanctions targeting the Iranian regime’s nuclear and missile programs. We commend the Trump administration and our allies for leading this vital effort.

The world cannot tolerate the Iranian regime’s nuclear blackmail, international terrorism, and continued threats against America and our allies.

These sanctions and implementing maximum pressure are essential to cut the cash flow to the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism and to prevent it from ever acquiring the world's deadliest weapon. Now, the U.S. and our allies must ensure that these sanctions are applied and enforced on the Iranian regime.

We cannot allow Iran and its allies to evade these restrictions and ongoing vigilance is essential. America must also continue to lead the international community in increasing the pressure on the regime to ensure its nuclear program is permanently and verifiably dismantled, its ability to enrich uranium is removed, and its ballistic missile program is destroyed.
