Atlanta Activists Lobby on the Hill

A group of seventeen leaders from Atlanta travelled to Washington, D.C. for a lobbying and education mission on October 23 and 24. The Atlanta Executive Council Chair, two members of the New Leadership Network and one National Council member joined the group. During their trip, participants had the opportunity to discuss foreign policy and lobby their members of Congress on Capitol Hill on the issues of foreign aid and Iran. On their first evening, the activists enjoyed a dinner with Elliott Abrams, former deputy national security advisor for President George W. Bush. In addition, they were audience to a series of briefings from AIPAC senior staff, including lobbying training and issues briefing. On their final day, they ventured to Capitol Hill to meet with Sens. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA), as well as Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), Rep. John Barrow (D-GA) and Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA).
